FAQ
I've never played kickball. Will I die?
No promises about your dignity, but you'll be fine. Most of our players hadn't touched a kickball since grade school. If you can kick a ball and laugh when you miss, you're already one of us — games run about 50 minutes, refs keep things moving, and nobody is scouting for talent.
What do I actually need to bring?
Comfortable athletic clothes, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle. Cleats are recommended once you're hooked (molded or rubber studs only — no metal), and evening games get cool, so bring a layer. We supply the balls, bases, and refs.
What if I don't have a team?
Sign up as a free agent and we'll place you on a team. Plenty of people show up alone — most leave with a team group chat, new friends, and strong opinions about post-game nachos.
When and where are games?
Thursday nights at Mosswood Park in North Oakland (3612 Webster Street). Game slots run through the evening, and every week wraps up at one of our sponsor bars.
Do I need to be athletic?
Not even a little. GS3 is social-first rec sports: the competition keeps games fun, but the friendships and theme nights are the point. All skill levels welcome — seriously.
What happens after the game?
The post-game social — every week, at a partner spot like Ben & Nick's or Tipsy Putt. It's half the reason the league exists.
